I think with the Putnams baby they are eluding to the fact that babies who are never played with or cuddled or have any real stimulation have a higher death rate than those who do receive those things. Whenever we see the wife with the baby, the baby is always crying and the wife always looks very annoyed and angry. It really wouldn’t surprise me if she doesn’t ever play with the baby or sing or talk to the baby. Janine was most likely such a good mom and she would be an amazing mother to this one too, even within the few minutes we saw her with the baby in this episode she was already much better than the wife.
